The IMPACT (Important Perspectives on Alzheimer’s Care and Treatment) study was fielded between April and May 2009 and was designed to assess current beliefs and behaviors surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and dementia among key stakeholder groups from five European countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.
During the study, which was funded by Pfizer Inc. and Eisai Europe Ltd., more than 1700 respondents completed a 30-minute questionnaire via the Internet; study respondents included caregivers, physicians, members of the general public, and payors (i.e., health policy managers and decision-makers). The content and structure of the questionnaire were reviewed and endorsed by the IMPACT Steering Committee, comprising 11 leading researchers, clinicians and advocates in the field of Alzheimer’s disease. Key findings from the IMPACT study have been published in The Journal of Nutrition, Health & Aging (Vol. 14, No. 7, 2010 & Vol. 14, Suppl. 1, 2010).
