As stipulated by the National Alzheimer’s Project Act, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services since last fall has been formulating a National Plan to tackle AD. The Obama Administration is expected to announce the final version between 10-14 May 2012, according to minutes of the last Advisory Council meeting, and anticipatory chatter is building in the AD community. The plan will frame the agenda for AD research and management for the next two decades.
Last week, Representative Edward Markey (D) of Massachusetts and 12 co-sponsors introduced a new bill supporting the plan’s stated goal of preventing and treating AD by 2025. Now is the ideal time to help build momentum by writing to your representative. The advocacy group USAgainstAlzheimer’s has prepared a letter that can be sent with a few clicks.
